On our second day in Vietnam, we took the plane from Saigon to Danang, and then drove to a small town called Hoi An on the South China Sea. It's known for its tailors, and we had a blast going from tailor to tailor getting clothes made. We even had Viola fitted for a little blue taffeta holiday dress.
The weather was torrential - the wind blew the whole time and the rain was constant, which provided an incredibly dramatic backdrop. The town was flooded from the river, but we were still able to walk around in some parts of it.
Viola came down with a fever a couple days into the trip, which was a little scary, but the doctor at our hotel checked her out, and she was able to kick it on her own in a couple days.
We tried some of the local food, namely 'Pho', which is a delicious noodle soup, and little pork dumplings.
It wasn't until the last day that we actually walked on the beach and discovered that the water was deliciously warm! But the weather still wasn't friendly enough to go for a swim.
