Southeast Asia Part Nine: Buddha Cave

The next day, we took another drive out into the countryside surrounding Luang Prabang. We stopped at a small "Whisky" village where the villagers brewed a mean-smelling whiskey, sold beautiful fabrics, and we got to see a monk using a table saw. A man played his handmade instrument for us, too.

Driving further still, we got to another village and embarked across the river in a small boat. Our destination was the 'Buddha Cave' - a cave set in the mountain where over the years, worshippers have filled the cave with thousands of Buddha statues.

On the way up to another cave at the top of the mountain, local children were selling little birds in small bamboo cages, which was kind of sad. We even saw a miniature owl.
